Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing low and no cost tangible and mental health support to parents and families who have been impacted by the loss of a pregnancy or infant.  Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. strives to support parents and families with evidence-based pregnancy and infant loss doula support and perinatal mental health support. We also strive to provide professional development and resources to maternal health and mental health practitioners.

The Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s vision and mission.

Our vision is for parents and families in DC, Southern Maryland, and Northern Virginia impacted by pregnancy and infant loss are supported through their healing journey. Our mission is to provide this support through Sleep Sweet Junebug Inc.’s core values of compassion, respect, dependability, equity and inclusion, excellence, collaboration, advocacy and justice.

Our board members champion the importance of evidence-based, tangible, and compassionate support following pregnancy and infant loss. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. to advance its mission.

Job Description
The Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about grief and loss support, maternal health and mental health, and start-up nonprofit organizations.

 

Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. is start-up nonprofit organization and therefore its Board Members are expected to be actively engaged and committed to being a working member of the Board. Additionally,

 

  • Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand Sleep Sweet Junebug Inc.’s financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.

 

  • Board members are expected to attend four board meetings per year. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.

 

  • Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.

 

  • Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in Sleep Sweet Junebug Inc.’s work by making a personal contribution each year.

 

  • Board members are expected to responsibly represent Sleep Sweet Junebug, Inc. to their respective communities and to advocate for Sleep Sweet Junebug Inc.’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.

 

Board terms last for two years and board members can serve for up to three consecutive terms.
